Environment Thumbnail exercise

The first task we were given for the environment unit was to create a series of thumbnail sketches so that we could get used to the idea of creating them. One of the main aims of this exercise was to experiment with different horizon lines, such as lines higher and lower up the box and lines that are more horizontal. One of the things that I didn’t know about much before doing this exercise was about how you should use S and C curves with points of vanishing, as it guides the eye through the composition as opposed to leading the eye straight out of the composition, which is what straight lines do. I actually found this exercise quite difficult at first, especially when it came to coming up with what I would draw for the thumbnails, but it got progressively easier as I got into the flow of drawing. I think the main thing I need to improve on is the speed of which I draw thumbnails and not getting too caught up in the details. I also think I could improve on scale, as it doesn’t make
