Rejected premise Ideas
When I first got the premise brief, the first thing I did was come up with some project ideas that interested me. Two of those ideas I've already written about, but these are two that I came up with, but quickly scrapped, but I thiught it would be wise to document them here anyway.
Idea 3: "Witches"
This idea could revolve around:
-a familiar tamer/ witch, who would visit other witches (such as elemental witches, a necromancer, a potion maker, a Lunar witch, etc.) giving them their familiars. This could lead to comedy where she gives the wrong familiar to a witch.
-a young witch who is visiting the other witches, trying to find her style of magic.
This theme would focus around character design, environment design and creature design, as each witch would have to be unique and have both a matching environment and familiar.
While I like the idea of this project, it's simply too large for me to produce all of it to a good standard in the time scale I have.
Idea 4: Myths and legends from around the world
This idea is more vague than the other ideas I had, but it would mainly revolve around my own retelling of some of my favourite myths and legends, or my own enterpretation of mythological creatures from around the world.
This could cover many different projects, such as:
- A project focusing on the different styles of dragons from around the world
- A project focusing on a specific mythical creature, or the myths from a specific place like Wales or Scotland.
For art style, it could be inspired by the time period or place the myth/legend I'm focusing on comes from.
I decided that this project was a bit too specific for my liking, not allowing me to deviate too much from how the creatures are described when it comes to creature design. I also decided that I wanted more freedom to incorporate my own ideas into a project, rather than following a story or a design that's already been thoroughly described and re-told.
