Toolkit 2: Blog links and final reflective statement

 Toolkit 2 Statement
Overall, I have found the toolkit 2 Unit very challenging, although rewarding. I feel like I have come far in all areas of the unit, but I still have a long way to go in my skills and I didn't complete the unit to the standard I would have liked.

Jet pack Jones- Jet pack jones was the most challenging aspect of this unit, but I thouroughly enjoyed parts of it, specifically the modelling. My biggest issue with JPJ was that I didn't prioritise it enough, in comporasion to other units, and that meant that I had a large amount of it left to do and not enough time to do it in. This also meant that I didn't give myself enough time for technical issues, such as the pose deformers breaking. I didn't get enough of him done before the deadline for my standards, but I will attempt to finish him over the summer so I'm fully prepared for next year.

Life drawing- I think I have improved the most with Life drawing. I've gotten much better at anatomy and faces, although I do still struggle with likeness. I also got better at drawing more dynamic poses, which the second life drawing model really helped with as she was happy to do more extreme poses. I would have liked to get more practice at drawing Male anatomy, which is something I will work on in my own time.

Character design- The character design unit was quite challenging, but in a good way. It really pushed me out of my comfort zone, as I had to create inflatable pirates, which is never something I would've even thought of doing. I was very happy with the some of the final results of that project, but my time management meant that certain parts of it were more polished than others. I also plan to get all aspects of the final character bible up to my standards in the future.

Witch Modelling: Hands and lower arms

 The hands and the arms were next. These took a lot longer than I was expecting, and were a lot harder than I was expecting too. at first I tried to quad draw over the base mesh hands, but that was turning out very messy so I went back to Jet Pack Jones again and followed the hand tutorial. They look OK, but I'm not fullt satisfied with how they came out. For the lower arm, I extruded up from the hand the added extra edge loops to create the shape.

Werewolf Head modelling part 2

After doing the reworks to the werewolfs design, I went back to modelling her head. I'm still using the original orthographs because thy're close enough to how her new head look that I can still use them as guidelines. After getting the eye to look right, I moved on to the muzzle. I formed the top of her head and her cheek first so that the muzzle would flow into the shapes of the forehead and cheek. For her nose, at first I tried to have just the general shape and paint the nostrils on, but I realised for the animation I'd need actual geometry to animate some of her expressions, so I modelled it fully.  I found the nose extremely difficult to model, especially figuring out how the mesh should flow from the inside of the nostril back out and into the lip.

Toolkit 1 Submission: Autodesk Maya and Supporting software

 Autodesk Maya and supporting software Reflective statement At the beginning of the year, I absolutely hated Maya. I found the software extremely overwhelming and diffcult to wrap my head around at first, but over the year, I came to understand it a whole lot better and actually came to enjoy some of it. I would say I've come a long way with what I've learned with Maya, although i still have a long way to go. I think the biggest issue I had with this project was under prioritising it, prioritising my other projects over it throughout the year, which meant I had less time to actually finish all the tutorials.  When it comes to the supporting software such as adobe photoshop, premier pro, after effects etc. I feel I've come a long way with them as well, although I don't have a lot of what I did from those tutorials saved.
