Major: Sorting priorities and figuring out details for the kitchen
In order to achieve the best possible result for Major, I need to make sure I prioritise the most important parts of the project. At the moment, the Werewolf character isn't very neccessary to the project, and I haven't figured out to fit the Werewolf into the final animation in a way that doesn't feel forced. So for now, I'm going to focus on the other parts of the project, and either not include the werewolf at all or work on her later when I have a better idea on how she'll fit into the project.
As I stated in the last post, I'm currently working on the environment for the project. I decided to start with the kitchen first. I want the kitchen to be very specific to the witch character, and not just a generic witchy kitchen. To do this, I need to figure out what items need to be in the kitchen and what functions it will have besides food prep. The first step of this is going into a bit more detail about the Witches character and what she does, as the kitchen will be designed to suit her needs.
The Witch-
- Young but experienced in her magic and old enough to own a house: mid to late 20s, maybe early 30s?
- Possibly inherited the house from a older family member
- Specialises in Earth/forest magic and potion making, a part of that being cures for curses like the Werewolf curse
- Makes money from her potions and spells, perhaps mailing them
- Keen on protecting the natural environment, so maybe she uses recycled bottles and jars to package her potions and spells
- A bit of a collector of magical flora and fauna
- Studious, has a lot of books on different forms of magic
- Lives in the modern era and makes use of some modern technologies
Now that I have a more solid idea of what the Witch is like, next is figuring out what the kitchen needs to have in it, from clutter to the overall atmosphere of it. I may come back and add stuff to this list as I think of them.
The Kitchen-
- The overall vibe I want for the kitchen is it looks like a regular but slightly eccentric kitchen at first, but looking closer will reveal the more magical elements.
Items in the kitchen-
- Fridge, with notes and magnets decorating it. Would have items on top as well
-Modern appliances: A microwave, A radio, possibly a small TV, A kettle, possibly a blender, possibly a stand mixer
- Mortar and pestle
- Open shelves with ingredients and spices on, both magical and non-magical
- A place to store empty containers for potions and spells
-Maybe a fish tank with magic fish in it?
- Completed potions and spells, waiting to be posted - maybe a few potions and spells in the process of being wrapped up for posting
-A landline phone a notebook to take down potion/spell orders
- Potted plants dotted around the room, both magical and non-magical
- Magical items like crystals, magical creatures, fantasy mushrooms etc
-Lots of books, both magical and non-magical
-A sink, possibly with a magic brush doing washing up
- A 'mud room' section by the back door, with a coat rack and boot rack
- Herb drying racks: may go outside in the greenhouse
- Pots and pans
- Baking equipment
- Cake stands
