Major: Details and Wand cabinet

 The next items I texured were the clutter items, such as the books, Whicker baskets, mushrooms, apples, etc. 

For the books, I used a leather texture and coloured it, then added lines and circles to some to make them more detailed and older looking. I created several different textures to give variety.

For the Wicker baskets, I used this texture I found online - https://www.texturecan.com/details/151/ and modified it to create a more stylised look. I did the same texture for the round wicker basket.

Originally I was going to do the Jars next to the kettle the same colour as the appliances, but I decided to do them pink instead to add more variety in colours, and to bring the pink of the witches colour scheme into the kitchen more.

I also went back and edited the appliances to be a bit more pastel, directly colour picking from the witches colour scheme. I also lowered the shininess of them to make them look more like a paint or coating rather than coloured metal.


For the Wand Cabinet, I used a mix of different textures such as woods and metals to give each Wand a unique look. It took me quite a lot of tweaking to get the right look, but I'm happy with how they all came out in the end.

Werewolf colour schemes

 Next was to look at some colour schemes for the Werewolf. I knew I wanted her to have a warmer colour pallete, as I plan on having both the Witch and the forest be cooler in colours, so having the Werewolf be warmer will help her to stand out more. I started out by creating a base sketch to put the colours onto. At first I looked at real life canines, specifically the Maned Wolf and the Fox. While I like these two colour schemes, I don't want her to be associated with foxes as foxes are often depicted as mischievious characters, which doesn't align with the characterisation I want for my Werewolf. Next I tried some colour schemes that were more inspired by real life canines, but weren't exact like the first two. I really like how both came out, although I think the third will be the best as the fourth is very dark, and would probably blend in with the forest too much, whereas the third will stand out nicely.

Further Witch concepts

 After getting a better idea of the witches character and where she lives through figuring out the storyline, I worked on ironing out the witches design more. I wanted to get a good mix of traditional "witchy" clothing (lace, embroidery, flowy clothing, victorian esque clothing, etc.) and modern day clothes, to get across the idea that she is a witch in a modern era. I also wanted to have her clothes make sense for living and working within a forest. I decided to get a general idea of what face shape and body type I wanted her to have, and then use that almost like a dress up doll to try out different hair and outfit combinations, along with tattoos. This resulted in these 4 designs: In the end, no 3 was the best option out of these 4 to take forward because it captures the mix of witchy and modern that I wanted, and would be the easiest to model later on.
