Major: Kitchen Appliances

Image
For the kitchen appliances (Radio, kettle and Microwave) I decided I wanted to encorporate the roundness I use in the fridge to give the idea that all these items are from the same brand. When I do the textures, they will also have similar textures and be the same colour scheme. Modelling these were a fairly time consuming process as they involved a lot of detail.

Major: Walls, Floor + Window

Image
Before creating the furniture in the Witches kitchen, I created the Walls, Floor and window. The Walls and floor were very easy, as they were just slightly more detailed versions of the ones that were already there. I created the window frames by making the shape with a plane and extruding to give them dimension. For the Window handles, I decided to re-use the handles from the oven as they were pretty much the same as what I had in mind for the handles.

Major: Fridge + Oven

My priority is going to get the big items modelled in the kitchen, Like the room itself, the appliances, the couch and chairs, the bookshelves, etc. I started these with the fridge and the oven. Both of these were fairly easy to make, even though the oven has quite a few parts.

Major: Rounded Pot

I decided to pick something simple to start modelling with, a rounded pot. I made two different lids for it as well so I can use it for different things.

Major: Kitchen Layout mock ups

Image
After doing some 2D concepts, I started working on 3D concepts. I decided the best place to start was figuring out the layout of the kitchen. I started by creating the walls to get the shape and size, then blocked out furniture. This is the first layout I created. I liked the size of the room with this one, but felt that the shape of the room was a bit boring, and I didn't think it would have enough counter space for what I wanted to include. This is the second layout. I wanted to try putting the window + seat on a different wall to the garden entry, and to make more counter space. I think I went a bit overboard though as I think this one is too big, although I do like the shape of the kitchen with this one. With this layout I wanted to keep going for an interesting shape and counter space, along with putting the Alcove back one the same wall as the garden entry. Again this one is way too big, but I liked the overall layout. For this layout I took what I liked about each of the pr...

Major: Effects and Water Workshops

Image
These are drawings I've created as part of workshops with Justin on Fridays, specifically on Smoke, Fire and Water. Through these workshops I explored different ideas to do with my project, such as the cauldron in the hearth and potion bottles.

Major: Garden concept

Image
After doing a workshop with Justin on drawing different organic forms, I created this concept drawing to explore the vegetable/herb garden more. I wanted to get across the idea of a well established vegetable garden. Unfortunately I may have to simplify the 3D garden due to time constraints, but I will try to get across the same ideas in the 3D version as this concept.
