Collaboration reflective statement

At the beginning of the project, I was extremely nervous about working in a group. Historically, I've really struggled working in groups, especially when it came to keeping up with everyone else. I tend to work quite slowly, which I think can come off as lazy to some people, but I like to take my time in making sure everything is perfect. Despite this, I think Lucia, Bryn and I worked quite well as a group, as we got on quite well, all had good ideas and were able to play to each other's skills and strengths quite well, and help each other out when we were stuggling. I found it nice to have people to bounce ideas off of and to get critiques from, as well as reign me in a bit when I got too carried away with things.

I really enjoyed working on the ideas we came up with as well, as they were all fun and exciting ideas. I loved how everything got more absurd throughout the animation, and even though none of us had much experience with comedy, I think the final animation was a bit funny in the end. I was also really happy to see the art vision we had in the beginning be carried all the way from concept to the final animation as well, as I feel that in some of my previous work, the art direction wasn't as concrete.

I did have a couple issues throughout the project though, but that was all on my side. I did struggle a bit to keep up with the other guys, as I'm just not fast, especially when it comes to drawing. I did feel at times that I was holding the other guys back a bit, but I think that was mostly in my head. The other area I struggled a bit with was the modelling, but that was mainly just from making stupid mistakes, and once i'd rectified them, everything was fine. A good part of the modelling process though was getting more experience with UVing, as I'd hated and struggled to understand it fully before, but with doing it repeatedly in this project, I finally got it. Honestly the biggest thing that held me back with this project was trying to keep my blog updated, which I ultimately failed at. I've always struggled to keep up with regular posting, but for some reason I just couldn''t keep up with it at all this project. I think it had something to do with it being the first project after the break.

I think out of all the projects I've done so far, this one was my favourite. I felt like I learned a lot from it too, especially when it comes to working in a team. I enjoyed it from start to finish, even making the little mistakes in the modelling as I was able to learn from it. Having great teammates definetly helped with the enjoyment, as we worked really well together and didn't really conflict when it came to ideas. The main things I still need to work on though are letting go of everything having to be 100% perfect, trusting my instinct when it comes to things looking right, and, keeping my blog updated on time.
